FEATURED POETRY · INTROSPECTION
Nobody Knows
A poem about childhood, family, distance, and the quiet things we carry long after a moment has passed.
Author · Nick DuranLanguage · EnglishStatus · Featured
Nobody knows the full truth, not even me
who speaks in rhythm to get a rush out of the crowd that be
but I know that every small moment that passes, is like a drop in the sea
waiting for purity
it took me a dream awoken to reach out for maturity
to nip away at inferiority and superiority
to discover the salt of time on my skin no matter the temperature it holds
Recovery is a story that one has to begin so It can be retold
and the scars and pain remain sacred... so that if the paper burns... out of the ashes miracles behold...
My biggest struggle was impending doom, until I found myself in a room of lovers
for a summer it was like I forgot I knew about suffering
Passions ignited and I was a child trying to skip the many ambitions buffering
as I grew older I got a taste of feeling the will of selfish intention
and the essence of my fear became superficial rather than existential
A reflection to where I stand in this dimension, on the shore but never shallow
yes I was ignorant to the self sabotage and non purpose in my rebellion,
A bittersweet truth before not yet ready for me to swallow
nobody knows the truth, it hovers in the air
through the chairs and voices distant and near
it's celebrated and also disguised in celebrities who portray shiny things clear,
Carefully crafted and displayed in grand gestures then torn down by those feeling naughty by nature
nobody knows the truth, even when you're spilling guts in a booth trying to fill the void of henny or juice
when you're mingling with haters who secretly admire your fire and want to let go of nothing to lose
nobody knows the truth even when you feel unsure about who you are but you get in your parents car
When you feel like success is too good to be true but your homies say you're raising the bar
When you find yourself forgetting your nest and flying far beyond the stars
nobody is God, and God lives inside of me and you.
